The Former Pac Bell Park and SBC Park was renamed to AT&T park on March 3, 2006. This open-air baseball park is the home of the San Francisco Giants of the Major League Baseball and hosts the Emerald Bowl, a college football game, every year. When it first opened in 2000, AT&T Park was the first privately financed ballpark in Major League Baseball since Dodger Stadium. Some residents also call it "Mays Field" in honor of Giants great Willie Mays whose nine-foot statue greets visitors at the public entrance. Beyond right field of AT&T Park is a section of the bay named McCovey Cove, after famed Giants first baseman Willie McCovey. On game days, fans take to the water in boats and kayaks with fishing nets in hopes of collecting a home-run ball. Beyond the left field bleachers, the ballpark features an 80 foot Coca-Cola bottle with playground slides that lights up and blows bubbles with every Giants' home-run.
