Diamond head is a spectacle to behold. I hear that you can hike it as well but that the road is pretty narrow. definitely not something you should attempt if you're not in very good shape. We opted to just look at this monstrous volcano from the Kapiolani Regional Park and take plenty of pictures. You can see it from many parts of Oahu. It's pretty distinctive.
