Chez Panisse was originally conceptualized by Alice Waters and an collection of idealistic friends who named this charming restaurant after a character in Marcel Pagnol's 1930's Trilogy of movies.
The fixed price menu of three to four courses is changed nightly and costs $50 Mondays, $65 Tuesdays through Thursdays, and $75 Fridays and Saturdays not including beverage, service charge, and tax.
Chez Panisse believes that the best-tasting food is organically grown and harvested in ways that are ecologically sound, by people who are taking care of the land for future generations. Their quest for the freshest and best organically grown ingredients has cemented Chez Panisse as one of the most renowned restaurants in the world. For years, Chez Panisse has tried to show their diners what truly fresh vegetables just out of the garden, fruit right off the branch, and fish straight out of the sea can taste like. In doing so, Chez Panisse has established a network of suppliers in the area whose concerns mirror the restaurant's commitments to environmental harmony and optimal flavor.
