Day 1 - Monday March 24, 2008

Getty Villa in Malibu

We decided for everybody to meet up at the Getty Villa before the big reunion/wedding anniversary dinner. There were about 25 family/friends who drove from various places in California to meet for the occassion. The Getty was a great place to meet and kill time. It is a small museum so we made a reservation ahead of time. There was a really interesting collection of very old coins that I loved. There was also a beautiful garden. They had a nice cafe to grab snacks, too.

Taverna Tony's

After the Getty Villa, everyone drove over to Taverna Tony's for dinner. We made a reservation ahead of time because we were a big party. This Greek restaurant had a great atmosphere and even better food. This was the best Greek food I've had in a while! They served so many courses that I barely had room to try everything. At the end of the night they had a belly dancing performer who entertained at the various tables. The place filled up quickly. I hope to go back soon.

Day 2 - Tuesday March 25, 2008

Universal Studios

I had fun walking around the theme park but I think my younger cousins had the most fun. The studio tour on the tram was fun and I recommend going on it early upon arrival.

Dinner

For dinner, I parted ways with my family and met up with my roommate (who is from Santa Monica) for dinner. We went to Vivoli, which had excellent Italian food. The tiramisu was delicious!

Day 3 - Wednesday March 26, 2008

Beach and Lunch

In the morning we headed to Santa Monica Beach to relax. It was a good way to spend spring break and unwind after finals. For lunch we headed to Nagao. It is located in the Brentwood Town Center. My roommate loves to go there for lunch after her yoga classes. It was tasty--I approve!

The Counter

For dinner we headed to The Counter on Ocean Park Blvd. You can design your own burger here. They also have good salads. I have been to The Counter in Palo Alto, CA before. Also, I love their sweet potato fries!

The Chalet

That night, I left my roommate to go meet up with another friend who is from Eagle Rock. We went to a local spot near his house called The Chalet on 1630 Colorado Blvd. It seemed to be a very casual neighborhood bar. The set-up is made to look like a ski lodge with plenty of comfotable and cozy seats.

Day 4 - Thursday March 27, 2008

Hollywood Walk of Fame and Rodeo Drive

I  wanted to go see these spots because I had never been before and thought it would be fun. I guess it is something you just have to do once.

Getty Center

In the afternoon, I met back up with my family. We went to go meet a family friend at the Getty Center. We took the monorail up to the museum. For lunch, we ate at the cafe inside. They also had beautiful gardens that are worth checking out.

Mr. Chow

For dinner, I went to meet a friend and had dinner at their house. My family went to Mr. Chow. They said it was good but not great. I haven't tried it myself, though.

Day 5 - Friday March 28, 2008

Disneyland

On Friday we spent the whole day at Disneyland. It was charming and fun, as always. We had a great time and were able to go on several rides. I definitely recommend getting familiar with the FastPass. This allows you to go on the most popular rides without having to wait in line as long. Since we were only going for one day we didn't go to California Adventure Park.  It was definitely a great way to end the trip to L.A.!

That sushi looks amazing. Have you tried Sushi Go 55 (http://www.goplanit.com/dining/13572/sushi_go_55)? That place is amazing as well.
